aloha and mahalo, part 3.

Here is it, the last act, the finale, the cherry on top of a our honeymoon sundae. I give you part three of the hawaii trilogy.

DAY 7: What better way to start the day than a little sunning (with copious amounts of sunscreen) at the beach? And start the day at the beach we did. We hopped in the car and went down to Lanikai Beach. While I gave my ear a rest from the water, Micah did a little snorkeling. I took to reading my Real Simple magazine, while digging my toes further into the ever-so-soft sand.

We got a bit hungry, so we stopped in at Bob's Pizzeria.

And I found a flower

After lunch and a nap, we drove into Honolulu.

We made a pit stop to check out the scenery. We saw a man in a towel.

We visited King Kamehameha, but he was under repair

We saw a rainbow

And we grilled chicken, onions, and peaches for dinner.

DAY 8: We said our goodbyes to Kailua and hopped on a plane to Maui. After fumbling our way to the car rental, we drove off to find the Kaanapali Beach Resort, our final destination. I must mention (even though I do not have photo proof) that we stopped at Da Kitchen for lunch because we were mighty hungry after our 30 minute flight. However, the heaping plates did not come close to fulfilling my growling stomach. I might go so far as to forewarn others to just stay away!

This was our oceanside view thanks to groomsman Nick!

We didn't waste anytime getting ourselves to the beach.

And, I didn't waste much time before getting one of these.

We finished the evening with another glorious Hawaiian sunset.

DAY 9: Day nine was packed with sailing and snorkeling (yeah, I gave it another go). We signed up for a trip through Trilogy. They were wonderful. They fed us breakfast and lunch and above all else showed us sea turtles, yes, you heard me right sea turtles!

Again, although I do not have photo proof of the sea turtles, we saw them. In fact we saw a lot of them, in two different snorkeling areas. At Honolua Bay, the first snorkeling sight, we saw about 5 big sea turtles swimming at the bottom of the ocean. At the second site, fairly close by, we saw 2 turtles swimming RIGHT NEXT TO US. Literally, they were within 10 feet. It was incredible!

After the the trip, we hit up the hotel pools and then ventured out of the compound to find dinner.
Here's a shot of us before we left.

And here's our rental car (can we say tourist!)

We went to a burger place, and Micah got some Hawaiian special. I believe it was called "Heart attack in a bun" and was topped with a fried egg and bacon.

I got my usual (Don't judge, I got solid food too).

DAY 10: Our flight back to San Francisco wasn't until 8pm, so we politely asked for a late check out, in which we found out that Nick is one of those Platinum members who gets whatever he asks for. We only wished we had known this information earlier! Anyway, we laid out by the pool.

We had a snack.

And then we packed up and drove off to Mama's Fish House, what we were told is the pride and joy of Maui fooding. And, many thanks to everyone that told us to go here, because it was beyond fabulous. We recommend it to all that are looking for a fancy, romantic, delicious meal.

The view from our table

The starter.

The appetizer (that I was not quick enough to snap a picture of since I was too busy shoveling it into my mouth).

Micah's entree (some kind of fish & lobster).

My entree (fish curry over rice).

We were too stuffed to eat dessert, so we opted for some photos outside.

Then we mourned the quick passing of our Hawaii honeymoon.

And caught a red-eye flight back to SF.

Ok, if you made it through all that, I applaud you. That was a LONG one. Anyway, to sum it all up, Micah and I had a wonderful honeymoon. We are so grateful for all the people that made it happen. Here ends the Aloha & Mahalo trilogy! But, we'll go back...someday.
